Dog Food Recipe

We have been asked by multiple people for the recipe that we feed our beloved Chloe when she had cancer. below will be the list of ingredients that we used. Please remember this like all recipes is only a suggestion and you can substitute the items with ones that your pets like. (We have not tried but cats may like it also.)

  • 5 to 6lbs Boneless/skinless chicken (Breast or thighs)
  • Chicken Livers (1 tub approx.1 lb)
  • Beef Liver (1/3 whole liver) (We get from our local butcher)
  • Salmon 2lbs (with or without Skin)
  • Paddock 2lbs or other fish (Skinless and boneless) (can use other fish IE flounder.)
  • 4 Granny Smith Apples (Peeled and cored)
  • Frozen mixed berries 1.5 LBs (we get the 3lb bag and use half.
  • Large bag of frozen mixed vegetables approx. 4lbs (We use the Normandy blend- carrots, squash, broccoli and cauliflower)
  • 1 bundle fresh asparagus
  • 1 small bag of frozen mangos
  • 1/2 large bag of frozen spinach
  • 1/2 large bag of frozen Kale
  • 1 small bag of frozen Brussel sprouts
  • 1small bag of frozen sweet potatoes
  • 1 large can of pumpkin (Make sure that pumpkin is the only ingredient. No other ingredients)
  • 2 1lb boxes of triple color veggie spiral noodles
  • 2 1lb bags of No Yolk egg noodles.
  • 1 cup of Quino (the Tri one)
  • 1/3 to 1/2 jar of pearl Couscous (24oz package)

Cube meat to approximately the size of the tip of your thumb (partially frozen is easiest to work with). Chop all fruit and vegetables with food processor (to look like coleslaw). Break noodles into really small pieces (I put them in a zip lock bag and crush with rolling pin until small.) (cook noodles for about 3 minutes then strain to remove excess starch)

Cook in large electric roaster/oven (ours is 22qt) Start with meat first and cook at 250 until everything is cooked or just about cooked. Add vegetables and fruit. Add about 2 cups of water, when most of this mixture is cooked add pumpkin, noodles, Quino and Couscous and another cup of water and let cook until everything is done.

Right now we are freezing this in 1/2 cup bowls as we are supplementing store bought dog food with this mixture. If feeding only this mixture then 1 1/2 cup bowls twice a day worked for our dog. (Your dog may need more or less depending on activity level, size and breed.)
